just curious way off topic, does the little thing in the upper right corner of the areaword info mean how many battle areas there are in that stage, like how many pvp are going on or peeps taht need help?

You get the ability to access the guild storage from portals in fields. It helps if you stock pile healing items with death grunty, and need to get some.
