TV series

Alright, so recently I have just become a huge fan of the .hack TV series, but I have a slight problem. I can't seem to find what series comes first to last. And I don't want to end up skipping around watching the series not knowing what is going on and who is who, and trying to piece it together and probably ruining something that would excite me in the future episodes.

I just got done watching all of the .hack//sign series, I believe that was the first series from what I can tell. I came across a #28 episode, and it showed many charactors I have never seen before, and it ended up to be a dance party at the end. (I assume that 2 or 3 different series were brought together for a final episode, which ruined a few things for me..)

So is there anyone who can give me a complete list, starting from first series to last on which tv series comes first?

ok from the very beginning u can start of with the book ai buster 1 and the first chapter of ai buster 2 then go to the anime series after that there is a zero but that was never released in america, then its the 4 games .hack infection,mutation,outbreak, and quarentine in that order. then episode 28 of sign whcih takes place 6 months after the games, then u go to the manga/anime legend of the twilight bracelet, then the other stories in the second ai buster , then the new .hack//roots, then the new game .hack//gu the opening scene in the new game theres an 8 month time frame which is where roots takes place hope this helps lol but ya if u dont want to buy hte games, u can always purchase the book series Another Birth which will give u the game story through the mimiru looking girl u saw her names blackrose

Heh, follow Lestat's timeline and you should do fine. Personally, I prefer going through the .hack series the way it was released:

.hack//sign --> .hack//Games --> .hack//Legend of the Twilight --> pretty much any .hack novel --> .hack//roots --> .hack//GU games

Yeah, that's true, but at least they add more story elements to GU and it has a final rap up in Vol.3.

lol im gonna watch the whole series eventually when it got licensed alot of people dropped it and youtube stopped airing them and now my sound sucks so i gotta dl them. but ya ive been a fan since i saw infection as a new release at an ebgames lol so like viscosity, ive seen everything the way it was released just if ur a newcomer, by chronological order, that timeline would be about right

It does offer up some continuity errors though. In Roots, after Haseo gets Data Drained, he has run-ins with both Touta and Tabby, which are both considered to be canon, yet never made it into the game. Also, when Kuhn tells Silabus and Gaspard to be sure to help out Haseo if he's ever in trouble, they seem to be very familiar with his reputation already, but when they meet him in the game, they act as if they're only somewhat familiar with his reputation, even goin so far as to confuse his name as Haseyo.

I've viewed all of the translated material already, with the exception of Vol. 3 of Another Birth, and've done research on the stuff that hasn't been translated yet. This is the most acurate timeline I can think of.

• .hack//SIGN|.hack//Wotan's Spear (Found in .hack//AI buster 2.)
• Intermezzo (OVA Episode of .hack//SIGN.)
• .hack//ZERO
• .hack//Games|.hack//Another Birth (Slightly AU-telling of Games through BlackRose's POV.)|.hack//XXXX (Completely AU telling of Games)|.hack//LIMINALITY (Happens along side of Games)
• Unison (Special OVA episode of .hack//SIGN set a few months after the events in Games.
• .hack//Kamui|.hack//Rumor|.hack//Firefly (All three of these stories are found in .hack//AI buster 2. The chronological order of the stories isn't exactly clear, but based on the in-book timeline, it's most likely in the order that they're given in the book.)
• .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT (There're both a manga and anime version of this story. Both are the same at first, but after the first volume of the manga and the fourth episode of the anime, the storylines are completely different. The manga is considered to be the canon version, while the anime is not.)
• End of the World (This is the Terminal Disk that came with the Special Edition of .hack//G.U. Vol. 1
• .hack//Roots|.hack//CELL|.hack//GnU
• .hack//Alcor (Alcor is difficult to place in the timeline, because it is considered canon, but alot of the story is in heavy contradiction with the rest of the canon. This is about as close to acurate as I can get.)
• .hack//G.U.|.hack//G.U.+ (AU telling of G.U.)

If I've left anything out or made any mistakes, feel free to point them out and I'll edit my list accordingly.
